WireGuard Core Architecture
Shadowsocks Accelerator has built a new routing engine based on the WireGuard protocol. WireGuard achieves complete accelerator functionality with only about 4,000 lines of code, while traditional IPsec requires over 600,000 lines. The more streamlined code means a smaller attack surface, lower latency, and higher throughput. In internal testing, the handshake speed of the WireGuard protocol is 3 times faster than IKEv2 and 8 times faster than IPsec.
Noise Protocol Framework Encryption
Shadowsocks Accelerator’s implementation of WireGuard utilizes the Noise protocol framework for key exchange, employing Curve25519 for ECDH key negotiations, ChaCha20-Poly1305 for symmetric encryption, and BLAKE2s for hashing. This combination of cryptographic primitives has been widely verified in both academic and industrial settings, providing forward-looking security against quantum computing attacks.
